As editor, Carlyn Tani manages the quarterly publication of the Punahou Bulletin, an award-winning alumni magazine that reaches 36,000 stakeholders throughout the world. She also handles media relations and corporate video production.

Prior to her current position, Carlyn served as executive director of Pacific Islanders in Communications, a Honolulu-based media nonprofit. She executive produced several national public television programs, including Great Performance’s “Holo Mai Pele,” which won the CINE Golden Eagle Award.

Carlyn received an Executive MBA and an MFA in theatre and dance from the University of Hawai‘i at Manoa and a BA in cultural anthropology from Pomona College. In 2003, she was awarded a certificate in arts nonprofit leadership from the Stanford Graduate School of Business and National Arts Strategies. Carlyn has adjudicated for the State Foundation for Culture and the Arts and for the Scholastic Art Awards, and currently serves as vice chair of the City and County of Honolulu’s Commission on Culture and the Arts. She and husband Dan Foley, an associate judge for the Hawai‘i Intermediate Court of Appeals, are the proud parents of collegians Jason and Bobby Foley.

Carlyn on IABC’s March luncheon on sustainability:
The luncheon gave us the welcomed chance to connect with others around sustainability, a priority issue for Punahou School. The guest speakers offered differing perspectives from the nonprofit, government and business sectors, but struck a common chord in challenging us to think more boldly about how each of us can effect social change. I left with fresh ideas, new contacts and, most importantly, the sense of being part of an impassioned, broad-based movement.
